Have You Seen Newark Central Ward Stabbing Suspect ‘Shakira’?

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a female suspect wanted in connection with an aggravated assault stabbing that occurred on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

According to investigators, the incident took place between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. inside a business on Court Street near Washington Street. 

During a physical altercation, the suspect reportedly brandished a silver knife and stabbed the victim in the hand. 

She then allegedly struck the victim with a small black pipe that she retrieved from a nearby garbage can.

 

Bystanders intervened and broke up the fight. The victim later sought treatment for her injuries at University Hospital.

 

Detectives describe the suspect as having a light-brown complexion, standing 5’7” tall, and weighing approximately 130 pounds. She is known to go by the name “Shakira.”
