New Jersey State Police are investigating a crash early Monday morning in Essex County that left a tractor-trailer driver injured after the vehicle veered off the New Jersey Turnpike.

Troopers responded around 4:02 a.m. to the northbound lanes of the Turnpike’s western spur near milepost 107.3 in Newark.
According to a preliminary investigation, the tractor-trailer lost directional control, struck a guardrail, and plunged down an embankment.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by state police, and no additional details have been released.
