Paterson Police are investigating an early morning shooting in the city that prompted officers to search local hospitals for possible walk-in gunshot victims.
According to preliminary reports, a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire in the area of Rosa Parks Boulevard around 2:20 a.m.
Officers responding to the scene found shell casings on the ground, confirming that a shooting had occurred.
Police canvassed the neighborhood but did not locate any victims at the scene.
Authorities also checked nearby hospitals for anyone seeking treatment related to the incident, but no injuries were reported as of early Friday morning.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
The motive for the shooting is under active investigation.
