A vigilant off-duty Summit Police officer played a key role in apprehending two women accused of shoplifting from Lululemon on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, according to a statement from the Summit Police Department.

The incident unfolded around 3 p.m. when the off-duty officer spotted a white Mercedes-Benz coupe with Florida plates idling on Maple Street.
The vehicle matched the description of a car linked to a retail theft reported at the same store days earlier, on July 27.
While on-duty officers were being dispatched, the off-duty officer saw one woman sitting inside the Mercedes as another exited Lululemon carrying a shopping bag stuffed with merchandise.
The officer went inside the store to confirm the theft and ensure employees were safe, then pursued the fleeing vehicle on foot while updating police dispatch with its location.
Responding officers quickly arrived, intercepted the vehicle, and arrested both suspects without incident.
Following the investigation, charges were filed against:
• Aliyah Gordon, 24, of Westchester, NY – Two counts of shoplifting and conspiracy. She was released on her own recognizance pending a court date.
• Aniah Ferguson, 27, of Brooklyn, NY – Charged with shoplifting, conspiracy, hindering apprehension by providing false information, and being a fugitive from justice. She was transported to County Jail for extradition to New York.

The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be filed.
