Switch Malfunctions Cause Delays for PATH Riders at Hoboken Station

Hoboken

By: Richard L. Smith

Commuters traveling through Hoboken are experiencing delays and service disruptions due to ongoing switch problems near the PATH train station, according to information tweeted by PATH officials. The issue, which has persisted over the past week, has caused train stoppages, disabled trip updates in the RidePATH app, and even full suspensions of service in and out of Hoboken during peak hours.

Most recently, riders reported extended travel times and limited access to live train tracking.

As repairs continue, NJ Transit and the Port Authority have advised that cross-honoring is in effect. PATH riders can use NJ Transit rail, the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, or take advantage of $3 NY Waterway ferry rides during peak commuting hours.

While PATH trains are running roughly every 10 minutes during rush hour, officials recommend that passengers allow extra travel time and check official channels for service alerts. Switch-related speed restrictions are expected to remain in place through Labor Day.

Commuters with additional concerns can visit NJ Transit or PATH’s official websites for ongoing updates.
