Truck Overturns on NJ Turnpike in Middlesex County, Driver Seriously Injured

A serious crash involving an overturned truck shut down lanes on the NJ Turnpike early Sunday morning and left one person critically injured, according to preliminary reports.Around 4:17 a.m., state police were dispatched to the northbound lanes of the Turnpike near milepost 84.8  in Edison after receiving reports of a truck that had flipped over. 

Upon arrival near the crash site, responding units found the vehicle overturned with the driver trapped inside and leaking fluids onto the roadway.

Emergency crews worked quickly to extricate the unconscious and unresponsive driver and began administering medical care at the scene. 

As of 4:39 a.m., the driver’s condition had not yet been confirmed.

The crash caused lane closures and traffic delays as authorities began investigating the cause of the incident, which remains under active review.
