UPDATE: Late-Night Confrontation Leaves Man Shot Dead, Another Injured in Trenton

According to a statement released by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, Trenton police officers responded to the 600 block of North Clinton Avenue around 11:51 p.m. on July 14, 2025, after receiving several reports of gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, officers found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. 

 

Both victims were rushed to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where one of them, identified as 43-year-old Shalynn Richardson, was later pronounced dead. 

 

The second victim’s condition has not been disclosed.

 

Investigators from the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department determined that the shooting followed a dispute between two groups near Covert Alley, though the motive behind the violence remains unclear.

 

As of Tuesday morning, no arrests have been made.
