Authorities in Newark request the public’s help in identifying the suspect pictured below, who stole a victim’s cellphone on July 7.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., stated that the victim, through Facebook Marketplace, agreed to meet the suspect on South 9th Street near Central Avenue to sell his cellphone.
When they arrived at approximately 9 p.m., the victim allowed the suspect to inspect the phone, which the suspect took and fled eastbound on Central Avenue, according to Newark officials.

Newark authorities said the suspect, captured on surveillance video, has a light-skinned complexion, wore small dreadlocks, black sweats, black and white Jordan sneakers, and a blue hoodie with “True Religion” in white letters on the back.

Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
