A 52-year-old man from Hackensack was fatally shot late Saturday night in Paterson, prompting an active investigation by local and county authorities.
According to a statement released by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Paterson police responded to reports of gunfire around 10:42 p.m. on July 12 in the area of Clinton Street and Garfield Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound.
The man was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The incident remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity or details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting.
