Commuters using NJ Transit’s Gladstone Branch and portions of the Morris & Essex Line should prepare for delays and service changes on Tuesday morning following a low-speed train derailment in the Gladstone Yard.

According to a statement from New Jersey Transit, the derailment occurred early Tuesday and has led to the suspension of service in both directions between Far Hills and Gladstone.
To accommodate impacted riders, NJ Transit is providing substitute bus service between the affected stations.
The incident, while described as a “low-speed” derailment, is also having ripple effects on other parts of the network. Specifically, Morris & Essex Line train #400, which was scheduled to depart from Gladstone at 4:27 a.m., has been cancelled.

Passengers from that train are being directed to take the bus to Far Hills, where they can board train #402 to Hoboken.
NJ Transit has not reported any injuries, and officials are continuing to assess the situation. It is unclear how long the disruption will last, but travelers are advised to allow for extra time in their commute and to check NJ Transit’s website or mobile app for real-time updates.
With ongoing efforts to alleviate this derailment, delays and schedule changes are possible throughout the morning rush. Riders are encouraged to plan ahead and explore alternative routes where available.
