Authorities in Atlantic City are investigating the fatal shooting of a man discovered outside a residential complex Thursday evening.According to information released by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, officers from the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a 911 call at approximately 8:53 p.m. on June 26.
The call reported an unresponsive male lying on the sidewalk near the Shore Park apartments, located at 225 North Virginia Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found 40-year-old Robert Stanley Davis of Atlantic City suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterward.
An autopsy conducted by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound.
The manner of death was ruled a homicide.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit are actively investigating the incident.
Authorities have not released any details regarding potential suspects or a motive.
