Newark Police Investigate East Ward Shooting After ShotSpotter Alert

Newark Police are investigating a shooting incident in the city's East Ward early Saturday morning following a ShotSpotter activation.

Authorities say the gunfire detection system alerted officers to possible shots fired near 296 Delancy Street around 2:15 a.m. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered evidence confirming that a shooting had occurred.

Despite an extensive search of the area, no victims were located, and no injuries have been reported.

As of Saturday morning, no arrests have been made. 

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
