Authorities in Hudson County announced that on Thursday, June 26, the Hudson County Regional Collision Unit arrested a Lyndhurst man for his role in a hit-and-run that occurred in North Bergen on Wednesday, June 4.

Miroslaw Masiak, 77, is charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a crime of the third degree; Endangering an Injured Victim, a crime of the third degree; and Obstructing Administration of Law, a crime of the fourth degree, according Hudson County officials.
Hudson County officials said that Masiak was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus.
He was released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for July 17, HCPO officials say.
Shortly before 5 a.m. on June 4, 2025, the North Bergen Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of 2600 Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen, HCPO officials said.
Responding officers located a male victim — later identified as a 42-year-old Union City resident — with serious injuries, Hudson County officials said.
Hudson County authorities said the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.
The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, HCPO officials said.
During the initial investigation, Hudson County officials said, the vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision was recovered.
