A 72-year-old woman from Piscataway was killed Tuesday morning in a crash involving a minivan and a box truck on Interstate 287 in Edison, according to New Jersey State Police.
Authorities said the crash occurred around 10:35 a.m. near milepost 1.6, just over a half-mile from the Route 1 exit.
The minivan, traveling south in the left lane, rear-ended a box truck that was in the center lane.
The passenger, identified as Judith Kennen, sustained fatal injuries in the collision.
Her husband, the 77-year-old driver of the minivan, suffered minor injuries. The box truck driver was not injured.
State Police said the crash remains under investigation.
