According to a statement released by the Newark Police Department, authorities arrested three individuals on Tuesday afternoon following a shooting incident in Newark that led to a pursuit into neighboring Elizabeth.
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said the incident began around 3:30 p.m. on June 17, when shots were fired in the area of Sheerer Avenue near Hunterdon Street.
No injuries were reported from the gunfire.
Following the shooting, police tracked the suspects as they fled the scene in a vehicle that crossed into Elizabeth.

The pursuit ended with the apprehension of three individuals who are now in custody pending further investigation.
During the search, a Newark police officer sustained a knee injury while climbing a fence in Elizabeth.
The officer was transported to University Hospital for evaluation after complaining of pain.
The investigation remains ongoing.
