A man wanted in connection with an aggravated assault with a weapon led Somerset County authorities on a short but intense pursuit Monday afternoon that ended in the lobby of a hotel in South Brunswick around 2 p.m.
According to preliminary information, Montgomery Police were actively searching for the suspect when they spotted him in a red vehicle with Maryland license plates.
Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver fled, leading police on a chase through Route 206 and eventually onto Route 1.
The pursuit came to a dramatic end when the suspect bailed the vehicle outside the Holiday Inn on Route 1 and ran inside the hotel.
Police, closely behind, apprehended him in the hotel lobby after he broke through a door, causing some property damage.
Officers forced the suspect to the hotel floor and took him into custody without further incident.
Thankfully, police acted with professionalism and precision in apprehending the armed suspect, who ran into the hotel lobby and could have potentially triggered a dangerous standoff or harmed employees or guests.

The unidentified man was confirmed armed at the time and sustained facial injuries, prompting EMS to respond to the scene.
No injuries were reported among hotel guests or staff. The case remains under investigation by Montgomery Police.
