Pedestrian Fatally Struck on Route 80 in Paterson

New Jersey State Police are investigating a fatal incident involving a pedestrian who was struck and killed on a busy stretch of Interstate 80 in Passaic County early Wednesday morning.

According to preliminary information, troopers were dispatched around 3:00 a.m. to the eastbound lanes of Route 80 near Exit 60 in Paterson following reports of a crash involving injuries. 

Upon arrival, authorities discovered an unidentified individual who had sustained severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers temporarily closed a portion of the highway to conduct an on-scene investigation, which remains active and ongoing. 

No other injuries have been reported at this time.

Further details, including the identity of the victim and the circumstances surrounding the incident, will be released as the New Jersey State Police continue their investigation.
