As communities across Newark and the North Jersey region pause to honor the brave military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country, Mother Nature is offering a perfect backdrop for remembrance and celebration.
On this Memorial Day morning, residents are waking up to a mild 53 degrees in downtown Newark at 4:30 a.m.
While there’s a slight chill in the early hours, forecasters say it won’t last long.
According to the National Weather Service, sunny skies will dominate the day, with highs reaching a comfortable 73 degrees and light north winds around 7 mph.
It’s a beautiful setup for outdoor memorial services, family barbecues, parades, and quiet moments of reflection.
Whether you're visiting a veterans’ cemetery or enjoying time with loved ones, today is expected to be one of the nicest weather days of the week.
Tonight will remain pleasant, with partly cloudy skies and a low around 55 degrees. Light and variable winds will keep conditions calm and comfortable overnight.
However, residents are encouraged to enjoy the sunshine while it lasts—clouds and rain are expected to return by midweek.
