Residents across Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a brisk and breezy Sunday morning as Memorial Day weekend continues.

At 5 a.m., temperatures were holding at 51 degrees in downtown Newark, but gusty winds are making it feel closer to 44 degrees in some areas.
The chilly start means you’ll want to grab a jacket or even a warm coat if you're heading to early church service or out for a morning walk in downtown Newark.
Despite the cool air, the skies are partly cloudy and radar shows no immediate signs of precipitation this morning.
According to the National Weather Service, there's a 30 percent chance of scattered showers after 2 p.m., with today's high expected to reach near 64 degrees.

Tonight, there's a slight chance of showers before 2 a.m., under partly cloudy skies and a low around 49.
While it’s not the warmest kickoff to the holiday weekend, the weather should still cooperate enough to fire up the grill and enjoy some Sunday dinner outdoors with family.
Even better, Memorial Day Monday is expected to bring more sunshine and pleasant conditions for gatherings, parades, and remembrance events across the region.
Enjoy your Sunday, and make it a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend, New Jersey.
