The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation following a deadly plane crash that occurred Friday afternoon in Alexandria Township, Hunterdon County.
According to information released by local officials, the small aircraft went down near Alexandria Field Airport.
The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the plane, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the pilot’s identity, pending family notification.
Emergency crews from several agencies responded to the scene shortly after the incident was reported.
At this time, it remains unclear what circumstances led to the crash.
The FAA is working alongside local officials to determine the cause of the accident.
