As the NJ Transit Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen Union strike moves forward, the Town of Harrison is set to play a key role in handling the impact of the rail shutdown.

According to information released by the Harrison Police Department, the township will become a major drop-off site for affected NJ Transit customers, with an estimated 100 buses expected to bring passengers to the PATH Station located at the southern end of Harrison.

This contingency plan is scheduled to begin Monday, May 19, 2025, as part of the state’s response to the ongoing labor action that has halted train services.

Town officials are advising residents and commuters to brace for significantly increased traffic in and around the station area and to plan alternate routes or additional travel time to navigate the expected congestion.

Authorities thanked the public for their patience and cooperation as Harrison helped facilitate travel for thousands of displaced commuters during the strike.
