Dense Fog to Slow Friday Commute in North Jersey During NJ Transit Strike

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Dense fog is once again blanketing Newark and the North Jersey region Friday morning, creating potentially hazardous conditions for commuters, especially with more vehicles expected on the roads due to the ongoing NJ Transit strike.

The National Weather Service warns that visibility may be significantly reduced through the morning commute, with fog expected to lift just before noon.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution and allow extra travel time.

Along with the fog, there’s a 50 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m., as a weather system approaches from the west.

While weather radar shows some of the rainfall may weaken before reaching North Jersey, isolated storms are still possible in the region.

South Jersey, however, is expected to see more consistent rain.

According to NWS meteorologists, today’s high will reach near 77 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Tonight brings a slight 20 percent chance of lingering showers and thunderstorms, with patchy fog returning after 11 p.m. and temperatures dropping to around 64 degrees.

Commuters should remain alert to changing conditions and stay tuned to RLS Media for continued coverage of the NJ Transit strike and local weather updates.

Stay safe, New Jersey.
