A man is dead following a Sunday evening shooting in Paterson that police believe stemmed from an attempted robbery during a street domino game.
This marks the second violent shooting in the city overnight. Around 6:30 p.m., Paterson police were dispatched to the area of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Lafayette Street after receiving reports of gunfire.
Officers arrived at the scene and found shell casings and a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Preliminary investigation suggests the victim was among a group of men playing dominoes on the sidewalk when an unidentified suspect approached, announced a robbery, and fired two shots, striking the victim.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office is urging anyone with information to come forward.
