Emergency crews are investigating a powerful overnight explosion and fire that destroyed a home in Washington Township early Saturday morning.
According to a statement released by the Washington Township Police Department, officers were dispatched to Tranquility Court at approximately 2:02 a.m. after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a loud blast and flames in the area of Tranquility Court and Orion Way.
When officers arrived at 13 Tranquility Court, they found the house fully engulfed in flames and severely damaged, with signs of an apparent explosion.

Firefighters from the Washington Township Fire Department responded quickly and worked to extinguish the blaze.
The incident has prompted a joint investigation involving the Washington Township Police Department’s Detective Bureau, Washington Township Fire Investigators, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, and the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety.

Officials say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
No further information is being released at this time, but additional updates will be provided by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office when appropriate.
