New Jersey

By: Richard L. Smith

Good morning. As the North Jersey region wakes up this early Thursday, residents are greeted with mild 64 degrees and calm conditions, but that quiet start won’t last long.

According to the National Weather Service, today will bring a mix of sunshine and clouds with temperatures reaching a pleasant high near 76 degrees.

However, rain is on the horizon, with showers expected to begin after 2 p.m., and a 70% chance of precipitation for the afternoon.

Tonight, NWS meteorologists say the weather will turn wetter and more unsettled tonight, with showers likely and the possibility of thunderstorms after 2 a.m.

Temperatures overnight will drop to around 56 degrees.

Enjoy the warm and partly sunny hours while they last, Newark — a drenching Friday awaits, with a dreary and damp day expected across the region.

Have a great day and don’t forget the umbrella!
