Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., stated that Chief Morris and Sergeant Maldonado are both studying for a Master of Public Administration (MPA) at Fairleigh Dickinson University. They were inducted during a ceremony at the university on April 3.

Pi Alpha Alpha recognizes outstanding academic achievement and leadership among students pursuing careers in public service, Newark authorities say.

According to Newark officials, Chief Morris and Sergeant Maldonado were each selected based on their academic excellence and demonstrated commitment to ethical leadership and civic engagement.
