Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Monday, May 5, Shamar Scott, 29, of Galloway, was sentenced to 45 years in prison for the Murder of Demond Tally (pictured below), 45, of Atlantic City.

ACPO officials stated that on March 13, an Atlantic County Jury found Scott guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.
Following the jury’s verdict, Scott stipulated to his prior criminal convictions and the fact that he was a certain person who is prohibited from possessing weapons, according to Atlantic County officials.
The Honorable Donna M. Taylor, J.S.C., found Scott guilty of second-degree certain persons not to possess weapons.

Atlantic County authorities said that on February 10, 2019, just after 5:00 a.m., members of the Atlantic City Police Department responded to Presbyterian Avenue in Atlantic City in response to reports of gunfire and a man lying in the street.
Officers located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Tally was pronounced deceased later that morning, ACPO officials say.
Scott must serve eighty-five percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole, Atlantic County authorities say. Once released from prison, Scott must be supervised on parole for five additional years.

According to Atlantic County officials, Scott has remained incarcerated in the Atlantic County Justice Facility since his arrest on an unrelated matter in October 2020.
