Rainy Saturday Moves Out; Chilly Sunday Winds Return to Newark

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Residents across Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to significantly colder temperatures this Sunday morning, a sharp contrast to the milder spring weather of the past few days.

As of 4:30 a.m., downtown Newark was experiencing a brisk 47 degrees, but strong winds made it feel closer to 37.

In areas such as Sussex, Morris, and Passaic counties, temperatures hovered near the freezing point.

If you're heading out for early morning activities, such as first Sunday worship services, you’ll definitely want to bundle up with a warm jacket or coat.

According to the National Weather Service, conditions will gradually clear from cloudy skies to partly sunny as the morning progresses.

However, strong northwest winds ranging from 15 to 24 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph, will maintain a noticeable chill throughout the day.

The afternoon high is expected to reach near 61 degrees.

Tonight, skies will be mostly clear with temperatures dipping down to around 49 degrees.

The good news: milder spring weather returns on Monday, bringing more comfortable conditions to start the new week. Have a pleasant Sunday, New Jersey!
