Authorities in Manalapan Township are investigating after a body was found inside a submerged vehicle on Saturday afternoon.
According to information released by the Manalapan Police Department, officers responded to a retention basin located off Comtois Road at approximately 1:45 p.m. following a report of a vehicle partially submerged in the water.
Upon arrival, officers observed that the vehicle’s front end was underwater while its open trunk remained visible above the surface.
Specialized water rescue teams were dispatched to the scene and, during their operation, located a deceased individual inside the vehicle, officials said.
At this time, authorities have not released the identity of the victim or provided details regarding the type of vehicle involved.
The investigation remains active as police work to gather more information surrounding the circumstances of the incident.
