City officials invite residents to the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the newly renovated in-ground pool in Elizabeth.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Fred Erxleben Recreation Center, located at 513-515 Richmond Street, on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
“This new pool will provide our residents with a place to cool off on hot days, learn how to swim as well as stay healthy and fit,” said Mayor J. Christian Bollwage.
Originally built in 1980, the renovation process for the Fred Erxleben Pool began during the winter of 2014. The new facility features a main heated swimming pool ranging from a zero-depth entrance to a 5 ½ foot deep area; a children’s pool with a palm tree, which turns into a sprinkler as well as two shaded areas, complete with picnic tables and benches.
The June 13th ribbon cutting ceremony will mark the official opening of the pool for the 2015 summer season. Operating hours will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekends and beginning July 1st, it will be open seven days a week.
“Our pool and spray parks are set to open for the summer and we are especially proud of our latest addition,” said Paul Addessa, Director of Recreation. “I would like to wish all residents an enjoyable and safe summer.”
