Man Found Dead in Newark Apartment

Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the murder of Wilbert Kesselly, 63, of Newark.

Newark Police were called to the victim’s home yesterday morning. Kesselly, who used a wheelchair, was found unresponsive inside the apartment where he lived in the 100 block of Fabyan Place. 

The incident was reported at 9:26 am yesterday. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:55 a.m. Following an autopsy, the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.
