Authorities in Newark are investigating an early morning stabbing that took place in the city's East Ward early this morning.
Police and EMS responded to reports of an injured person in the 30's block of Riverview Place shortly before 4:30 a.m. where they arrived and located a male victim suffering a stab wound to the chest.
The man was rushed to University Hospital where he was reported to be in serious condition.
Police are investigating the motive for the stabbing.
