Enraged Jersey City Man Assaults Ex-Girlfriend, Cops

Jersey City New Jersey

A 34-year-old Jersey City man was arrested after assaulting his ex-girlfriend and the responding officers.

Darnell T. Stanberry was arrested Saturday around 1:30 a.m. after responding officers found a 36-year-old woman with signs of injury to her face.

The victim told police that she broke up with Stanberry earlier that day through a note.

Stanberry then snuck into her apartment and began punching her in the face. She said that he threatened to kill her, as he kicked her, if she broke up with him.

Then as police proceeded to arrest Stanberry he allegedly pushed an officer causing cuts to the officer's hand as he ran down the stairs.

The responding officers caught up to Stanberry, but he began punching the officers.

After police placed him under arrest, he was escorted to a police vehicle, where Stanberry then allegedly spit at an officer.

Stanberry charged with aggravated assault on three police officers, simple assault, resisting arrest, throwing bodily fluids and obstructingi justice.
