Absecon Man Admits to Having Illegal Gun at Hospital

Quasir Smith, 22, of Absecon, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, March 28, to second-degree unlawful handgun possession, in exchange for a five-year term in New Jersey State Prison, with a three-and-a-half-year period of parole ineligibility.

According to officials, as part of this plea agreement, the defendant must also consent to forfeit the handgun.

Officials said on February 10, 2022, Galloway Township Police responded to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – Mainland Campus for a report of a handgun found on Quasir Smith by hospital personnel.

Smith was subsequently placed under arrest.

Sentencing will be on May 9.
