Police in Newark are investigating a carjacking reported in the South Ward Sunday night.
At approximately 9:02 p.m., police were dispatched to an address in the 70's block of Goodwin Avenue to investigate a carjacking in progress.
Several units arrived at the scene and were advised that a male suspect approached the driver with a gun and demanded their 4-door Chrystler.
Newark South ward officers on patrol in the area found the crashed carjacked car in the 70's block of Walcott Terrace around 9:10 p.m.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot after slamming into a parked car in the neighborhood.
The investigation into the incident is active, and no injuries were reported.
