State Police Hosts Clothes, Toiletries Drive in Support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month

New Jersey

The New Jersey State Police is conducting a clothing drive to benefit sexual assault victims and survivors.

SAAM (Sexual Assault Awareness Month) is an annual campaign designed to raise public awareness about sexual assault.

Here are some staggering statistics:

Nearly 1 in 5 women and 1 in 71men have been raped in their lifetime

30% of men raped said it happened when they were 10 years old or younger

Approximately two thirds of assaults are committed by someone known to the victim

Sexual assault can happen to anyone. Victims are male and female, adult and child, any race, and any religion.

Donations can be made at any New Jersey State Police Station, Division Headquarters, and several county witness advocacy offices.
