The Chief Executive Officer of an Essex County Non-profit organization treated over 250 Newark residents to the movies to view the critically acclaimed and highly anticipated “Black Panther II Wakanda Forever.”
SHE Wins Inc. and Clinton Hill Community Action collaborated to bring ‘Wakanda Forever’ to residents of Newark's Middle and High School Youth at Newark’s own CityPlex Theater.
“Now more than ever, it is important for our young people to see positive and powerful images of themselves on the big screen,” SHE Wins CEO & Founder A’Dorian Murray-Thomas shared.
She added, “As a community, we must continue to amplify stories for us and by us.
Our organization is committed to being a resource for joy and affirmation for Newark’s youth and families, and we’re honored to continue partnering in this work with incredible community-based organizations like Clinton Hill CommunityAction.”
Newark artist Mr. Suliman Onque was commissioned by City Plex to do the artwork.
Groups around the city, such as Ms. Jiles and the “Gems” from Speedway Avenue School and young men dressed alike from Eagle Academy with their Mentor Coach Mekhi joined CEO A’Dorian Murray-Thomas for the outing.
According to officials, SHE Wins Inc. is a leadership and social action organization committed to creating a pipeline of college, career, and community-ready young women leaders in the City of Newark.
Giving special attention to young women affected by gun violence, SHE Wins works to ensure that girls most exposed to risk are best positioned for post-secondary success by offering a free summer leadership academy and year-round enrichment activities for girls across the City of Newark.
