Harrison Weather Center Reporting Flood Watches Issued For Possible Heavy Rain on Newark's First Day of School

Forecasters at the Harrison NJ Weather Center Operations are reporting severe rain conditions for parts of Northern NJ. 

 

According to HWC, a flood watch posted from the National Weather Service,  rain will develop with scattered thunderstorms later today through Tuesday.

Forecasters at HWC said to allow extra time while traveling due to urban flooding, which is possible in flood-prone locations.

To clarify, The National Weather Service said these rain conditions could develop over certain parts of the area, so if you live in a town where the street could flood. There is the potential of this occurring over the next couple of days if it rains heavily, then a flood advisory or flood warning. 

NJ’s largest school district, Newark, are expected to return to school under rainy conditions. 

Expect 1 to 2 inches of rainfall and higher amounts of precipitation in other parts of Bergen, Essex, Union, Passaic and Morris counties.  

HWC forecasters said a drier Wednesday is expected for the first day of school for Harrison, NJ.
