Essex Prosecutor Announces Citizen, Clergy Academy

Newark New Jersey

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office will host its Spring 2015 Citizens and Clergy Academy, a six-week training program, beginning Tuesday, April 28.

The Citizens and Clergy Academy training program is designed to familiarize clergy and other community members with the day-to-day operations of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. Each class is 2 1/2 hours.

“Sometimes people who do not have contact with the court system are unaware of the services provided by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office,” said Acting Prosecutor Murray. “The Citizens and Clergy Academy helps members of the community gain a better understanding of how our office works and prepares them to serve others who interact with law enforcement.”

Classes will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., starting April 28, at the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, which is located 50 West Market Street, 3rdFloor, Newark, New Jersey. A certificate will be awarded to each participant who completes the course at the graduation ceremony on June 9th.

Registration is required and candidates must be at least 18 years or older to participate in the training. Anyone with questions should contact Ms. Cheryl Moses or Ms. Kimberly Jones at (973) 621-4524.
