The Metro in-box and several online community chat rooms lit up overnight with residents in Jersey City and Newark complaining of "rapid gunfire" in several communities.
At around 1 a.m. in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Atlantic Street , about 30 people chatting in a community Facebook blog regarding being awaken by as many as 15 to 20 very loud "pops" in the area. "Did anyone hear that out there? I thought it was a dream" one resident in the area wrote". Residents noted seeing several police cruisers canvassing the area afterwards.
Over in Newark, several sounds of gun blast reportedly rang out in the area of Stone and 7th Ave. at around 1:30 a.m. according to several residents engaged in conversation in a Newark chat room.
It is not immediately known if anyone was injured in either shooting.
