There is an active search underway for a suspect wanted for armed robberies that occurred in locations in parts of Newark on Monday afternoon.
According to police, in one of the reported robberies, police responded to an armed robbery in progress at a bodega located at 692 Sanford Avenue shortly before 4:55 p.m.
Police say two black males entered the store armed with guns and demanded cash from an employee.
The assailant reportedly took an unknown amount of cash then fled the scene eastbound on Varsity Road in a dark-colored vehicle, according to police.
Police say the armed and dangerous suspects are wanted for at least one other robbery in the South Ward.
There were no physical injuries reported.
