Police advised local hospitals in the region to be on the lookout for potential walk-in victims after a shots-fired incident occurred in a Newark West Ward neighborhood on Friday night.
According to police, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of 149 Sunset Avenue at approximately 7:25 p.m., sending officers to the scene to investigate.
When officers arrived in the residential neighborhood, they found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after a thorough canvas of the area, no victims were found.
Police found cars struck by bullets, but the vehicles were unoccupied, according to police.
Newark Police have not released the motive for the shooting.
