Authorities in Elizabeth has confirmed a pedestrian strike that resulted in fatal injuries at a location in the city on Thursday morning.
According to a preliminary statement from police, the incident happened just before 7:15 a.m. at the intersection of Division Street and Fairmont Avenue where emergency responders received reports of a person down at that location.
When police arrived, they found the severely injuries unidentified person lying on the roadway.
Officials say the victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Union Count Fatal Collision Investigation team was called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
