Newark Police, Emergency Services Unit Search Building for Suspects After Avon Avenue Shots Fired Report

Police in Newark surrounded a building on the border of Newark's Central and South wards then searched for potential suspects after a shots-fired incident occurred early Wednesday morning.

According to police, an EMS unit traveling in the vicinity of 131 Avon Avenue notified police when they heard multiple rounds of gunfire and observed several males run into a building at that location just before 4:33 a.m.

Officers arrived at the scene and secured the area then called in Emergency Services officers to assist in searching the building for the suspects.

As of 4:47 a.m., there was no evidence of shots fired or victims. Police continued to search for shell casings and property damage. No arrests have been made.
