Newark Fire officials are investigating a fire that damaged a home in the city's West Ward during the overnight hours.
According to officials, firefighters were called to 141 1 Richelieu Terrace after receiving reports of a fire inside a house just before 1:32 a.m.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found smoke and flames on the second floor of a three-story house at that location.
Officials say, flames extended to the third floor, but they were able to knock the blaze down before fire spread to neighboring homes.
A search of the structure indicated no trapped on injured occupants ad the cause of the fire is under investigation.
