DEVELOPING EAST ORANGE NJ: Firefighters Battle Stubborn Two-Alarm House Fire in East Orange

East Orange

A raging two-alarm fire that tore through a house in an east orange neighborhood has firefighters from several municipalities on the scene battling the stubborn blaze.

According to preliminary reports from fire officials at the scene, heavy fire broke out in a two and a half story wood framed house located in the 200 block of Rutledge Avenue just before 4:45 a.m.

Crews arrived at the scene and began to run several lines after observing smoke and flames pour from the upper floors of the structure according to officials.

Firefighters experienced some water pressure issues as one of the hydrants in the area reportedly malfunctioned and was not able to immediately produce water according to observations at the scene.

Firefighters were able to make their way inside the burning home to check for trapped and injured occupants but were ordered to evacuate as flames engulfed the structure.

As of 6:25 a.m., there were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
