Search Underway for Armed Suspect Who Robbed Irvington Township Business

Irvington authorities are on the search for a man who walked into one of the Township's businesses and robbed the store at gunpoint on Monday morning.

The township has experienced a record-setting drop in violent crime and since 2018 with low criminal activity entering the beginning of 2019 according to public records.

In this incident, police officials said, an undisclosed amount of money was taken after a gunman entered the store located at 766 Springfield Avenue then committed a robbery at around 10:00 am.

Township officials said the suspect ran from the store then fled the scene on a silver bicycle.

Police described the male as 5’6” tall black male with a medium complexion who wore a blue Varsity jacket type coat and blue jeans.

"As with all criminal activity in the township, the matter is being thoroughly investigated as we search for the suspect who committed this crime" officials said.

There were no physical injuries reported.
