UPDATE: Newark Police Releases Photo of Man Accused of Carjacking Vehicle Occupied by Mother, Child

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect of a carjacking that occurred on Friday.

According to authorities, at approximately 12:40 p.m., police responded to the 100-block of Wilson Avenue on a report of a carjacking.

Officials say, a man entered a parked car - occupied by a woman who was attending to her child in the backseat of the vehicle - drove away. When the victim announced her presence, the suspect stopped in the area of Ann Street and New York Avenue and instructed her to exit the car with the child.

Police describe the suspect as approximately 6-foot tall, light complexion and slim build. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweater, gray sweat pants, and dark colored gloves.

Detectives investigating this incident are actively searching for this suspect and seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating him and removing him from the streets.
