The City of Newark, British artist Killy Kilford, and Newark youth announce the start of hundreds of signs being installed around the city in hopes of motivating and inspiring residents with hope and optimism.

The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 15 at 10 a.m., at St. Stanislaus Bohemian and Moravian Roman Catholic Church, 146 Irvine Turner Boulevard in Newark's Central Ward.

The signs, being designed by the artist and Newark youth from Central, Arts, and St. Benedict's High Schools, will contain inspirational and positive messages, and be posted all across the City, including in City Hall.

The signs will have messages like "Less Drugs, More Hugs," and 'Follow Dreams, Not Crowds," and other slogans created by participants, who are coming from Newark schools and youth detention centers.

Mr. Kilford's interest in Newark began arbitrarily, having never set foot in the City, from reading crime stories.

A hundred signs will be installed starting tomorrow and in the remaining months of 2014.
