Police have a crime scene established in a Newark neighborhood as detectives investigate a shots fired incident at this time.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of 7th Avenue and Stone Street at approximately 8:45 p.m. when residents dialed 911 after hearing nearly a dozen loud popping noises.
Police arrived at the scene and found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after they searched the area, they did not find any victims according to reports.
Officers recovered about nine shell casings at the scene.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
